Rishika Suryaa Savitri’s “Vivah Sukta” – Atharva Samhita

धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः!

The Hindu Vedas are said to have been composed by Seers, who “saw the mantras”, mantras being the thoughts, ideas, stories and the words that make up the Vedas. Unlike religious scriptures that focus on of Do’s and Don’ts, Vedas cover a wide range of topics including but not limited to  Universe, Divinity, Mind and matter, Living beings and their social contracts, Prescriptions for rituals, Approach to gaining knowledge, Approach to happy living – materially and emotionally as well as stories of ancient kings and kingdoms.  For understanding the basic categorization of Indic knowledge systems, read here.  These seers of Vedas are both men and women revered as Rishis and Rishikas.
